PowerPoint Presentation with Speaker Notes

Communication Introduction: Today’s digital business environment is global, fast-paced, and highly competitive. As a business professional, it is imperative you communicate effectively throughout your daily activities. In this task, you are asked to demonstrate your proficiency in communicating as a business professional. Scenario: As a recent graduate, you are exploring the job market for a challenging position in sales or marketing. You have found a job online that meets your qualifications and is ideal for your situation so you immediately fill out an application. However, you realize that the application is incomplete without a professional cover letter, which is crucial to obtaining an interview. Fortunately, after successfully submitting a finished application and going through the interviewing process, you are hired in this position. For your first assignment, the VP of sales has asked you to ghostwrite the invitation to an important meeting for the company’s clients, many of whom are from nations outside the United States. This invitation should communicate a sense of warmth and excitement and incorporate effective written communication to the meeting’s attendees. In addition to this invitation, you are being tasked with developing and delivering a multimedia presentation (PowerPoint), outlining the steps in a business report as well as writing an executive summary. Your company is highly involved with social media (e.g., Twitter, Instagram, Vine) and typically distributes information through these media. Requirements: Your submission must be your original work. No more than a combined total of 30% of the submission and no more than a 10% match to any one individual source can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased from sources, even if cited correctly. The rubric provides detailed criteria for evaluating your submission. You are expected to use the rubric to direct the creation of your submission. Each requirement may be evaluated by more than one rubric aspect. The rubric aspect titles may contain hyperlinks to relevant portions of the course. A. Write a cover letter (suggested length of 1 page) for the sales/marketing job you applied for online by using business writing techniques to justify a case for why you should be hired. Note: Consider the following questions when composing your cover letter: • Why is this position of interest to you? • What qualifies you for this position? • Why are you a good fit for this specific position? • Why are you a good fit for the company as a whole? B. Create a business-to-business sales meeting invitation in the form of an email or formal business letter (suggested length of 1 page) for your company’s international clients. Note: Consider the following questions when composing your invitation: • What is the purpose of the meeting? • Why should the client be present at this meeting? • What is the format of this meeting (e.g., Skype, in-person, phone conference)? • What actions will be taken as a result of this meeting? 1. Write an essay (suggested length of 1-2 page) explaining the importance of incorporating cultural sensitivity when interacting with international clients. C. Design a multimedia presentation (PowerPoint) (suggested length of 5–7 slides) in which you outline and discuss the steps involved in creating a business report by doing the following: 1. Summarize each step in the process. 2. Identify three important tips for creating a strong business report. 3. Explain in one slide how social media (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter) is used to distribute common types of business information. E. Write an executive summary (suggested length of 1 page) based on your multimedia presentation. F. Acknowledge sources, using in-text citations and references, for content that is quoted, paraphrased, or summarized.
