As to the understanding, Augmented reality is the blending of virtual reality and real life.  Developers  create images within applications that blend in with contents in the real world. Both technologies are used to treat psychological conditions.

Augmented reality system users continue to be in touch always  with the real world while interacting with virtual objects around them. On the virtual reality, the consumer gets isolated from the real world while immersed in a world that is completely technical to understand.Even though the virtual reality might work better for social networking and the video games in virtual environment like in the PlayStation.

The delivery methods for virtual reality to the user is through a head-mounted controller, which connects people and allows them to control and navigate actions to simulate the real world whereas augmented reality is used more on laptops and tablets to change the real world and digital images.

As to succesion, augmented reality is much ahead of virtual reality, since of the several products already on the market. The rise of augmented reality hardware devices from Google in Glass form,plans from Microsoft to launch its $150-$160 million purchases for its wearable computing assets.Though the technology on virtual reality is just stepping up to the plate, it is still far away from becoming the great thing for social encounters in the virtual world.

It worth to believe that both augmented reality and virtual reality will succeed; however, augmented reality might have more commercial success though, because it does not completely take people out of the real world.
